Pro Bono Panel – Chairman: Patrick Chapman
The Pro-Bono Panel oversees and coordinates all
the Company's pro-bono consulting and mentoring work for charitable
organisations, including that carried out via the Centre for Charity
Effectiveness at Cass Business
School. The Panel
meets regularly throughout the year to monitor our work and our
relationships with key bodies in the Third Sector. As our reputation
within the Third Sector grows, a significant percentage of our client
introductions come directly to us; in parallel, a number of umbrella
organisations call upon the Company to provide expert pro bono support
dedicated to helping their portfolios of charitable organisations. These
include Impetus Trust, the Private Equity Foundation and several of the
Prince of Wales’ charities. Overall, therefore, we are providing support
right across the sector, working with clients of all sizes, particularly
those that have limited resources. We focus our pro bono support where it
can have the most impact on improving social outcomes, particularly
supporting the activities of charitable organisations that are either
unable to pay normal consulting fees or have exceptional cases for
support.
The Panel also organises evening meetings, held
at the Cass
Business
School, at which our
members and their guests can discuss current problems within the Third
Sector and ways in which to address them. We hold these meetings about
every three months, and have covered subjects ranging from income
generation to a comparison of the suitability of different governance
structures; we usually incorporate case studies presented by members into
the agenda so that we can all keep abreast of the work we are doing.
The Panel maintains a Skills Register of Company
members who are interested in undertaking consultancy assignments or
mentoring charity CEOs. Please contact Patrick Chapman in relation
to consultancy or Bill Penney in relation to mentoring if you are
interested in providing pro bono support.
