The
WCoMC Professional Development Group is
delighted to announce its inaugural lecture and
discussion in our annual series
looking at the broader issues within which
management consultancy is likely to develop.
WCoMC’s members are encouraged both to
come, and to bring colleagues who are puzzled by
how to react to the current financial crisis and
wish to debate options. Sir Mark’s
distinguished record both in business, with the UN Global
Compact and as a Board Member of the Global Reporting Council
places him in a unique position to both comment on the
development of the current financial crisis and to suggest
creative ideas as to how the future might develop, with a
strong focus on rethinking business models and ethics towards
Sustainability. Mark Moody-Stuart is Chairman of Anglo American plc. He was Chairman of the Shell group from 1998 to 2001. After a doctorate in geology in 1966 at Cambridge, he worked for Shell in Holland, Spain, Oman, Brunei, Australia, Nigeria, Turkey, Malaysia and the UK. He is a director of HSBC, Accenture, Saudi Aramco and the International Institute for Sustainable Development. He is Chairman of the Global Business Coalition for HIV/AIDS and the IVCC, a Gates funded consortium working on the development of mosquito control methods. He chaired Tasks Forces on Renewable Energy for the G8 and for the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Council for the Global Compact 2001 – 2004. Chairman of the Global Compact Foundation 2006. He is married to Judy and has four children. Sir Mark is also Chairman of the Global Compact, a United Nations initiative to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
