We were delighted to hold the third
meeting of 2009 when we had two speakers.
SIGNALS OF CHANGE
What could you do if you were forewarned about
changes in your environment?
This evening, Gia Campari outlined a simple,
effective and fun way to develop organisational
‘antennae’ to capture weak signals that indicate
how your environment could change in the future. Gia first helped organisations implement this
approach at SRI (Stanford Research Institute),
where the idea originated. Examples of
successful applications are an oil company that
used the approach at national and international
level in the area of product development and a
major automotive company that obtained valuable
information about a competitor’s intention well
before the competitor made the move.
It is a simple, low maintenance activity that no
organisation should be without!
RECESSIONARY PLANNING
Recessionary times always show up threats and
weaknesses in all sectors of business.
Ron Cruickshank introduced a simple, yet
complex, model that allows businesses to check
the integrity and robustness of their planning.
Through RBC (Routes Business Cartographers) Ron
and his business partner, Geoff Priest, have
successfully used RBC’s 3P Triangle© model
through workshop presentations, with their
clients, to question the planning of their
client’s strategic implementation plans. This
model has proved particularly successful in
assisting Start-up or SME businesses in their
proposal to both prospective and current
stakeholders, particularly in obtaining
financial funding.
The 3P Triangle© works in a simple manner by
acting as a ‘check list’, while it also works in
a complex manner by the way it interrogates a
business’ proposals.
