Bill Penney has been
a provider of interim management services since 1989. He founded
AshtonPenney in 1994 and now champions the company’s charity and
not for profit assignments. He has been
deeply involved in setting and maintaining the highest
professional standards for the industry: a past chairman of the
Interim Management Association, he was involved in its formation
as ATIES in the early '90's. He led the launch of the
professional body, the Institute of Interim Management, at the
turn of the millennium and, more recently, has been on the
steering committee for the launch of the IMA Institute.
Ordained a C of E
clergyman in 1966, he spent ten years in parish life and as an
industrial chaplain in Rochester Diocese, before becoming
“non-stipendiary” 1976. A Sloan Fellow of the
London Business School, he ran employee communications for
Rockware Group in the late 70’s, was chief executive of a Kent
youth employment charity in the early 80’s – and then a main
board director of Williams Lea Group for the rest of that
decade. He has been the Hon Chaplain to the
Worshipful Company of Management Consultants since its early
days and now administers the Company’s mentoring scheme.
