Ian
Daniell has a degree in civil engineering but when confronted
with the prospect of work joined the British Army instead.
For
the next twenty years most of his career was dedicated to
defending the North German plain. He ended up commanding the
Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal Regiment in time to clear up after
the first Gulf War. During this time he also gained an MA in
Management from the Kent Business School.
He
left the army in 1994 to set up an interim management business
which gave him his first taste of consultancy. He ran that
business successfully for ten years, for three of which he was
chairman of the Interim Management Association.
In
2004 he sold the business in order to focus on his research and
to complete his book. He was awarded a Doctorate in Professional
Studies in 2008 and now provides a range of consultancy
services to the interim management industry as well as advising
charities and SME on their executive recruitment, assessment and
management development.
He
is married to Emma and they have two children at university.
In
his remaining spare time he maintains two old houses in Kent and
Normandy, sails a wooden boat on the Swale and is sad enough to
drive a classic MG.
