Your Master's Voice....

I am delighted and honoured to be chosen as Master and I look forward to seeing many of you at the New Master's Reception on 17th November, at Guildhall. This will be an opportunity for me to express in more detail the three landmark projects we will be launching over the next 12 months to help position us as a vibrant and "Great Modern Livery Company"

The projects have been designed to increase our reputation within the profession of management consultancy, livery movement, City and Corporation of London. In parallel, I am hoping that we will create opportunities for members to engage in these interesting projects.

The first landmark project will involve the creation of a "Management Consultancy Centre of Excellence" in partnership with a leading Business School. This will be led by PM Professor Calvert Markham.

The second landmark project will involve a top down and bottom up campaign to establish a new subject on the School curriculum that will be relevant to young people as well as employers in the next 10 years. The subject will include maths, coding and artificial intelligence. We will be working with the Conrad Foundation and are looking for sponsorship from corporates to establish an online campaign involving young people. Simon Davey, Barry Martin and Frank Brown are leading this project.

The third landmark project will involve us working closely with the Charitable Fund to establish an initiative that will secure our position as the pre-eminent Livery company for undertaking work within the Charitable Sector. This initiative will be led by Liveryman Bob Harris.  Bob was the recipient of the Matheson Award on 20th October in recognition of his outstanding contribution to pro bono work for the company!

All of our major events are in the calendar now. In particular, I would like to draw your attention to our very first white tie banquet to be held at the Mansion House on 25th April 2017. Please save the date!!!

New Business Blockbuster !  On 1st October, seven WCoMC members launched a book entitled “99 Essential Business Questions”. The Authors are Gia Campari, David Glassman, Michael Jeans, Patrick McHugh, David Peregrine-Jones, David Shannon, Benjamin TaylorThis book (see picture) will make a serious impact on the business market.  It represents around 40 meetings and 1500 hours input; [management time worth some £750,000]. Worshipful lateral thinking.... 

Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of January 1, 2017. The move is being made in order to save the President's $500,000 yearly salary, and also the deficit expenditures and related overheads the office has incurred during the last 5 years. 
"We believe this is a wise financial move. The cost savings are huge," stated one Congressman. "We cannot remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay," he declared. 

The new President was informed by e-mail this morning of their contract termination. Preparations for the job move have been underway for some time. 
Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices (Mumbai ,India) will assume the office of President as of January 1, 2017. Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month, but with no health coverage or other benefits. 

It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night, when few offices of the US Government will be open. "Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the Mumbai Computer call centre," stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. "I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President." 

A Congressional spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem, as one or two earlier Presidents were not familiar with the issues either. 

It is not yet clear if plans are being considered for outsourcing the Senate and the House of Representatives. This could seriously affect staffing efficiency at the Mumbai call centre. Special interests and lobbyists here are expected to seriously push back on any such efforts. It is thought that saving the hundreds of millions of dollars now spent annually on campaign financing could positively affect the U.S. economy. 

Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issue at all. "We know these scripting tools work," stated the spokesperson. "Former Presidents have relied on them heavily."

If approved, most of any affected Congressional positions would probably revert to entry level Internet bloggers, or on-call street activists. If nothing else, they may be offered jobs as reporters or TV commentators....
