Annual Service followed by Admissions and Reception
Annual Service of Celebration, Dedication and Thanksgiving - 5pm
St James Garlickhythe is a unique 17th century City Church, a sacred place since 1100AD. Wren rebuilt St James in 1683 to be full of light, since when it has become known as ‘Wren’s Lantern’.
We are very fortunate to have the services of Honorary Liveryman, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley MusM HonFGS to play the organ at the service and Revd Anthony Howe, Deputy Priest in Ordinary and Chaplain at the Royal Chapel Hampton Court, to officiate. There is of course no charge for the service; there will be a retiring collection in aid of the church.
Admissions Ceremony and Reception - 6pm
The church service will be followed at 6.00pm by an Admissions Ceremony and Reception - the final one in our Master's year - at Painters' Hall, the historic home of the Painter Stainers Company. The Hall is at 9 Little Triunity Lane (EC4V 2AD) in the heart of the City with a history dating back to 1375 and is one of the most beautiful livery halls in London. Destroyed by fire twice, during the Great Fire and the Second World War, the main building today is a joy to visit with much oak wood in evidence along with many stained glass windows and fine arts works. There is a charge for the reception.
