The Installation of our New Master

WCoMC is a modern Livery Company yet we follow the tradition of the Livery in formally disrobing our Master and passing the robes and chain to his or her successor and then installing the new Master. In turn, he or she then installs the new Wardens and new Court Assistants.

We then celebrate the installation with a traditional black tie dinner: a reception followed by three courses with wines carefully matched to the menu by our Wine Committee. As last year, we are holding the ceremony and dinner at Vintners' Hall, the home of one of the Great Twelve Companies with a history that spans over 650 years. By contrast, this year marks our 25th anniversary and a key element will be the address that David Johnson, as our new Master, will give, indicating how he sees the year unfolding.

Traditionally, this follows the address given by the Guest of Honour, who this year is Anna Manz, the newly appointed Group Finance Director of Johnson Matthey and formerly the Group Strategy Director of Diageo - someone well experienced in appointing and working with management consultants.

In addition, Sir George Cox, one of our founding members and masters, and a major figure in the management consultancy profession, will be joining us to celebrate our first quarter century.

We are also delighted to be welcoming Anne Denholme, the Royal Academy of Music prize winning Welsh harpist and the fifth Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales. She will play a selection of music during the reception and dinner.

As usual, the Sea Cadets, whom we proudly support through our Charitable Trust, will provide the Carpet Guard.

They have excelled this year, crewing the first British ship in 31 years to win Sail Training International's Tall Ships Races in their new training brig built in 2014, TS Royalist. The ship was formally named by The Princess Royal in 2015 and bears our Company's name as one of the patrons and sponsors.

The Installation Ceremony will start at 6.30pm, followed by the reception at 7.00pm for the black tie dinner at 7.30pm; carriages will be at 11.00pm. You are welcome to invite your guests to the Installation, but please be punctual. Members and registered Event Account Holders can click on this Participant Listing link to see who has booked.
