The Installation Ceremony and Celebratory Dinner

The installation of our new Master, Wardens, Court Assistants and the appointment of Officers is the highlight and start of our Livery year. The formal ceremony is traditionally followed by a sumptuous livery dinner and good fellowship. This year our theme will be “Sharing and Celebrating” and the ceremony and dinner will take place in Apothecaries’ Hall, which is the oldest extant livery hall in the City of London. This is our first Company event to be held there and we are sure that all members will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of this ancient place.

We have a great menu lined up for you, which is likely to comprise sharing platters of vegetarian Greek Mezes, followed by Slow Roast Lamb or a vegetarian option of Mushroom Pithivier, and a pudding of Raspberry Cranachan and shortbreads. This will be accompanied by an excellent selection from our Company cellar: Chapel Down sparkling wine, Riesling, a choice of Claret or French Sauvignon Blanc, and finally Jura Malt Whisky. A range of Cawston Press soft drinks will also be available as an alternative for those who wish not to drink alcohol. If you would prefer this option, please make a note to this effect in the 'dietary requirements' when you make your booking.

Balancing his love of both Greece and Scotland, the Master-elect has chosen to have a Scots piper welcome guests to the table, as opposed to Greek plate smashing!

We will be welcoming and installing Chris Sutton as our new Master together with Kanan Barot as First Warden, Andy Miles as Second Warden, Malcolm McCaig as Third Warden and Collette Stone as Fourth Warden, along with Court Assistants and Officers. Our Installation Ceremony has its roots in the historic traditions of the Livery, but with a few "modern traditions" of our own, and Chris will take the opportunity to outline his key objectives for his forthcoming year as Master.

We are extremely pleased to announce an exceptional guest speaker for the evening, Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein, President of City University. Sir Anthony is a computer scientist and engineer, and has a remarkable multi-disciplinary career as a management consultant, entrepreneur, government advisor and academic. We are further delighted to be joined by Andrew Marsden, non-aldermanic Sheriff-Elect of London, Andre Spicer, Dean of Bayes Business School and Commander James Nisbet of London Sea Cadets.

Please note that booking will close seven days prior to the event. Members and registered Account Holders, when logged in, can click on this Participant Listing link to see who has booked.
