Systems Thinking and the Viable System Model (VSM)
The Viable System Model (VSM) is a framework developed in the 1970s that defines how organizations can be structured to survive and adapt in complex, changing environments.
However, many people who come across the model for the first time see academic texts and articles that may feel impenetrable.
In this session, Pauline Roberts will share several ways in which the model has been useful to her as a systems thinking consultant in a range of business organisations. She will share hints and tips for applying the ideas from the model and how to get started with it quickly in the real world.

Pauline Roberts is an MSc qualified system thinking practitioner, author and educator. She wrote the book, Crossing the Bridge, about her own learning journey as a systems thinking practitioner and developed the Creating the Conditions for Change© approach, based on her learning from applying the VSM in practice.
