WCoMC Events Diary

Details of Three Special Events in the near future
mid/late September and early October

Dear {contact.first_name}

Dates for your Diary

I am writing to you to ask for your support for one or more of these three quite special charitable events which are all coming up fast in the next few weeks after the August lull:

Agincourt 600 Gala Charity Banquet:
22nd September 6.30pm for 7.00pm

This gala black tie banquet, especially for the City and the Livery Companies, commemorates the 600th anniversary of Agincourt. It will take place in the Guildhall, the atmospheric medieval building that is the headquarters of the City of London Corporation. It would be good to have a 'small contingent' from WCoMC there to join Ann and me; we have already booked our places! Overall, the organisers aim to have 600 guests - over 500 have already signed up so there are some places left.

It will be a glittering occasion with trumpeters and a guard of honour. The principal speaker is The Rt. Hon. Lord Sumption OBE, an historian of the Hundred Years’ War with an international reputation and a Justice of the Supreme Court.

The cost of each ticket is £105, which includes at least £5 as a donation to The City's dedicated charity: Agincourt 600. For more details click on the Agincourt600 link to the right or contact the Clerk.

Time is now of the essence!

"Luminosa" - Charity Concert:
26th September 7.30pm

Liveryman Malcolm Green and his wife Liz are organising this charity concert in support of Paul’s Cancer Support Centre and they have asked us to publicise the event. The Collegium Musicum of London Chamber Choir will be singing a selection of songs Inspired by Light - hence "Luminosa". The programme includes works by Tallis, Purcell, Haydn, Elgar, Handel, Stanford, Sullivan and Parry, to name just half. The concert will be held at the Trinity United Reform Church in Wimbledon.

Tickets are just £12 each and represent exceptional value for a concert of this quality. In addition for an additional £12 there will be a barbecue afterwards, for those who wish to have supper. All the proceeds will be going directly to the Paul's charity.

Tickets for the concert are now available online (click on the Luminoso image to the right) or here. Alternatively, you can make a donation to the Paul's Charity via Liz's Just Giving Page at: https://www.justgiving.com/Elizabeth-Aram/.

Handel Messiah - La Nuova Musica Charity Concert:
2nd October 6.00pm

PM Patrick McHugh, Chair of La Nuova Musica (LNM), together with Ann and myself and other senior Company members and the WCoMC Music Panel, cordially invite members to a private performance of Handel's Messiah at the Gresham Centre, St Anne and St Agnes Church, Gresham Street, EC2V 7BX. The Artistic Director of LNM, David Bates, will lead a reduced orchestra with soloists including Mary Bevan, Christopher Lowrey, Nick Pritchard and BBC New Generation Artist, Benjamin Appl.

This is a private performance. It will be the first time that LNM will be performing Messiah to a live audience, building towards a recording during 2016 - again before a live audience. Running a charitable company is expensive and the administrative costs, as every charity trustee will know, are hard to raise. So, after underwriting the cost of the planned recording, the remainder of the funds raised by this private concert will go towards the core costs of LNM.

In 2011, LNM was incorporated as a charitable company limited by guarantee with the objective of bringing the highest standard of performance by young professional musicians of the 17th and 18th century musical repertoire to as wide an audience as possible. LNM has come a long way since its foundation, with acclaimed performances and international CD releases, as well as an exciting season in London including Wigmore Hall twice and St. John’s Smith Square - all before the end of 2015. Click on the LNM link to the right for more information on the ensemble.

Admission to the concert will be strictly to named ticket holders only. All ticket holders are kindly requested to make a £50 minimum gift aided donation to LNM. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis; please contact Patrick McHugh (or text him on 07802 640407) for yours.

We look forward to you joining us for this exciting concert. However if you can't join us, but would like to help by making a donation, please visit the special Virgin Money Giving Page or visit the support page on the LNM website to see all the different ways you can help.

Conclusion

I do hope that you are able to support one or more of these three events and the charities behind them. They all rely on getting the broadest engagement, so if you can pass this message on to your friends - that would also be brilliant.

And finally - thank you for your continuing support of WCoMC.

Kind regards

Patrick
