WCoMC Events Diary

Details of Upcoming Company Events

23rd October 2018

Dates for your Diary

It is already a few days into my year as your Master, so I wanted to alert you to some of the Company events that are on the horizon - ranging from informal evening meetings to one of our defining events - The Charities Supper - which is now only three months away. I have therefore refreshed the Events Diary form of email to link to all these events. Also, as a reminder, you can always browse the Company Calendar on our website to keep abreast of what is happening.

Our Company thrives on fellowship through our range of events, coupled with the Philanthropic and Educational work that we undertake. At my Reception in November, I will be explaining more about my vision for WCoMC and how I hope that with your help we will continue to develop as a Great Modern Livery Company. For the moment, please note these events in your diaries and I hope to be seeing you. Booking for the first three of these events is open now, and booking for others will be opening as soon as full details and costs are available.

Shop Talk: Artillery Arms, 31st October, 6.30pm

We have updated the format of our informal Shop Talk evenings. We will be using these events as an opportunity for members and potential members to meet over a drink and hear short presentations from new colleagues on their professional activities and then have a broader discussion around any current matters of mutual interest.

CMCE Symposium: Cass Business School, 14th Nov., 6.00pm

The Rise of the Robot Consultant? The Centre has undertaken a major study over the past year attempting to assess the skills that management consultants will need in 2030. The results of this study will be presented followed by an opportunity for attendees to question and discuss them with the presenters.

ProBono Mentoring Forum: Wood Street Bar, 20th Nov., 5.30pm

Mentoring has been at the core of our Philanthropic ProBono work, virtually since our Company started. This informal evening is set aside for members to discuss mentoring techniques and their mentoring work in a 'safe environment'. It is an opportunity for current WCoMC Pro-Bono mentors, prospective mentors or those “just curious about mentoring” to meet, share and learn.

New Master's Reception: Guildhall, 21st Nov., 6.30pm

This event has become a regular feature over recent years - but we are changing it slightly: in part it will be my opportunity to look forward and explain how the Wardens and I see our Company develop during the next three years, and in part it will be a reflection on the previous year, as presented in our Annual Report. This is your chance to touch base with fellow members and ask questions all within a convivial reception!

Further Events in December and January

Wine Tasting: Armourers' Hall, 10th Dec.,6.30pm

This will be another first: Our Wine Committee are offering all members the chance to taste some of the wines purchased over the last decade - and, we hope, buy or bid for them!

Christmas Lunch: Ironmongers' Hall, 17th Dec., 12.30pm

Come and join the Wardens and me for our annual Company Christmas Lunch to welcome in the festive season.

Charities Supper: Skinners' Hall, 16th January 2018, 6.00pm

This is our annual celebration of our Philanthropic ProBono work, our contribution to The Non-Profit Sector. We have three speakers lined up - all are clients - and they will give us an insight to the impact we are achieving.

To close, I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the Company over my year as Master. Do not hesitate to drop me a line with any suggestions about our events, our fellowship and our work.

Thank you
Kind regards

John
