Ale Conners Ceremony and Christmas Lunch

You may wonder why each year in Common Hall, we elect the sheriffs and the Ale Conners. Well it is because they are responsible for the quality of ale in the City of London.  There is an ancient ceremony to test this and we are very privilleged to be able to witness this ceremony to be performed exclusively for us by the first female Ale Conner in its 700 year existence, Christine Rigden - the only currently declared Shrieval Candidate. If that was not enough, there will then be a lunch where you can chose one starter, one main and one dessert from the following menu plus coffee and mince pie all for the sum of £32 including VAT and Service.   There will be a cash bar on hand for the ale, wine or other tipples you may choose to accompany your meal.  The venue is the Historic "Old Doctor Butlers Head" at 2 Masons Avenue, Moorgate, EC2V 5BY.  Please do join us to celebrate the season and bring partners, friends and relatives...

Pumpkin & Parsnip Soup(v) or Old English Pate or Smoked Salmon and Prawn Mousse or Pear and Candied Walnut Salad(V)

Main
Traditional Roast Turkey or Roasted Beef Striploin or Barrumindi Steak or Winter Vegetable & Cranberry Tart(V)

Dessert
Christmas Pudding or Cherry Grangipane Tart or Lemon Tart or Cheese and Biscuits.

Those items in bold will be the default option. If you wish to have one of the other options please confirm by the 28th of November by email to The Clerk as we have to pay in full and confirm the final decisions by the first of December.
