Education Supper 2016 and Admissions Ceremony
Current Educational Challenges in the UK
Our principal speaker will be Paul Johnson, Director of The Institute of Fiscal Studies. Paul has been Director of the IFS since January 2011 and is also currently visiting Professor in the Department of Economics at University College London. During the course of the evening he will raise some fundamental questions about why we (and other countries) seem to achieve such poor outcomes for the very large sums of money we spend educating our children. Paul will examine, but does not promise to solve, the challenges faced by those providing - and receiving - education in the UK. It will be followed by invited comments and a question and answer session.
During the evening we will present the Satjit Cup, which is awarded annually to the outstanding candidate at the Sea Cadet Officer Selection Board.
The Urwick Prize will also be presented. The Urwick Prize was established to commemorate Colonel Lyndall Urwick, a pioneer in the field of management consultancy and this year will be awarded to outstanding academic research that both influences and advances Management Consulting.
