Mergers and Acquisitions - Are they straightforward?

The NfP Sector is going through a period of extreme pressure as we all adjust to "life after Covid". Many NonProfits are considering mergers or acquisitions as a strategic response, and indeed are being encouraged to think this way by some external commentators.

In our ProBono work we regularly come across clients who wish to consider merging with another organisation or acquiring one. Understanding the drivers for these initiatives, what is involved in mergers and acquisitions and how we can best assist clients is increasingly important in our ProBono consultancy and mentoring work.

The event will enable us to share insights and explore important aspects of M&A as it touches on our philanthropic work, focusing on the experiences of five organisations:

  • Dr Carol Homden, CEO of Coram Foundation, will share her experience of merging with and acquiring a number of charities in recent times

  • Tom Jenkins and Mark Collins will describe their experience of supporting the merger of the four Welsh Archaeological Trusts

We will start the evening with a brief session outlining potential M&A frameworks. Then, following each presentation and again at the end, there will be time for participants to ask questions, discuss and develop the points set out and perhaps extend them with examples from their own experience. What are the likely issues? Any do's or dont's? What to look out for? Where are the likely pressure points?

We will then have drinks and a buffet to enable informal discussion and networking to continue up to around 9pm.  Please bring £20 to cover the costs of refreshments.

Members can click on this Participant Listing link to see who has booked.

The dress code for the evening is Business Casual.
