Installation Dinner - 10th October 2023

Registration is closed for this event
The New Master's Installation on the 10th October 2023, a time for celebration and fellowship.   This event is open both to Company Members and Non-Members to book.

Installation Ceremony and Dinner

This event starts the year in office of our new Master, Wardens and Court Assistants, so please join us for an evening of ceremony, celebration and fellowship over a fine dinner with wine from our Company cellar.

Our Installation Dinner this year will take place in the Painters’ Hall, home to the Painter-Stainers Livery Company, founded in the thirteenth century. Their original hall was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666 and the rebuilt one suffered the same fate at the hands of enemy action in 1941. The present Hall combines the traditional elegance of a City Livery Hall with the facilities expected of a modern building – not least in having a lift!

We will have exclusive use of the premises, so will start downstairs for the Installation ceremony and pre-dinner champagne reception in the Court Room. We will then proceed upstairs past some magnificent artworks to the Livery Hall, resplendent with chandeliers, stained glass windows and more amazing art, for the 3-course meal with wine, ending with a Loving Cup ceremony. We will then go back downstairs for the Stirrup Cup – good job there’s a lift, we can hear some of you thinking!

Our chief guest speaker at this event will be Nicholas (Nik) Miller, Chief Executive at The Bridge Group and Partner at More Partnership. In both of these positions, Nik uses consulting skills to support not for profit organisations, including universities, hospitals, theatres, museums and the wider charity sector.

Nik is a global conference speaker, Fellow and Research Associate at the University of York, lead researcher on national policy reports, with expertise in government and corporate relations, social mobility, alumni engagement, fundraising, and data analytics. Nik has recently worked with the University of Oxford, the BBC, the Wellcome Trust, the Cabinet Office, and, of great interest to us, with KPMG on analysis for and publication of their Social Mobility Progression Report. Other guests are being confirmed and will be announced in due course.

With the lovely surroundings of the Painters’ Hall and some inspiring words from our guest speaker on offer, alongside some excellent wines from our cellar to accompany a great meal, we hope members will turn out to cheer in the new Master and Wardens, and take the opportunity to catch up with friends old, new and those yet to be made!
